A 2.5-hour trip at 10 gal/hr
At 10 gal/hr, a 2.5-hour trip uses 25 gal. A 45-minute reserve adds 7.5 gal, so required fuel is 32.5 gal; 50 gal aboard leaves a 17.5 gal margin.
That margin is relative to these inputs only. Add fuel for the applicable taxi, climb, alternate and contingency assumptions rather than treating this simple trip model as a complete flight release.
Formula and method
Trip fuel = fuel flow × trip time. Total required fuel adds the entered reserve quantity before comparing the result with fuel on board.
